THE Dads!

These two great men are missed today, and everyday. Ed’s father on the left was very special to me. He helped to mold me into the ‘farm wife’ I am today. He always encouraged me to try doing a farm task if I seemed interested and was my guide and tutor, so to speak. Never made me feel like I wasn’t good enough for his son; if anything, he made me feel welcomed into the family. He would stop and talk to me, or let me help him do a repair job which was kind of an honor for me, at times. He allowed me to fit in. That was very important me. I also got to care for him when he was nearing the end of his life and he said he loved me with his eyes the last time I saw him. I just know that!

My Dad, on the right, was a caring and loving soul, especially to his family. I believe this photo was taken at his retirement party or perhaps an anniversary party for Mom and him.If you needed a hug he was there with his arms around your shoulder and a gentle squeeze that told you he cared. I never got to show off my grandkids to him or to my father-in-law, but they were the best grand fathers to my four children. Was a joy to see my father and mother dance a waltz together. The greatest of respect and admiration in their eyes.

They were both huggie kind of men and to little ones that meant alot. They are greatly missed as my immediate family has grown apart and I truly feel they could have said the right words to the concerned parties and made it okay. Someday I will share a poem that I wrote for my Dad after his passing as well as one for Ed’s Dad, too.

Miss you both terribly. As I wrote in one of the poems,’Our broken hearts just will not mend, until we see our Dads again.” Two great men, fathers and grandfathers who will be forever remembered by the legacies left behind. Love you both! Happy Father’s Day..

And to my Edward. 42 years together, 4 great kids, 10 wonderful grand kids later… We must have done something right…Love you and Happy Father’s Day to you…
